Road-map to resilience! Children and youth enter into out-of-home placements in search of supportive and well-meaning resource families. But, does your family have the answers or even know the questions sought by the child? Of course not! However, this course will provide you with strategies to best guide and support a newly placed child in your home. Also, this course will teach you how to make special connect to promote appropriate behavior (home & school) with a child you have had in your home for years or months. Children and youth who have been traumatized often manifest outwardly relationships that affects kid’s personal relationships and positive interactions, acting out, engaging in risky behaviors, non-compliant behavior and so forth. Participants will learn techniques used by behaviorists when they are trying to re-shape or stop inappropriate behaviors. This course is broken into three sessions. First, participants will learn what their child’s is trying to communicate through inappropriate behavior. Second, participant will develop a behavior plan and reward system that works! Lastly, participants will return to class after implementing the plan for feedback and adjustments in order to create an effective behavioral plan. Stop the two steps forward and three steps backwards behavior plan! Together let’s create a behavior plan that works for you and work well on your child!
